Take a tour of one of Greater Victoria's most active and interesting work sites - the Point Hope Maritime.

Since acquiring the shipyard in 2003, Ralmax Group of Companies has invested more than $23-million in the modernization of the shipyard including the introduction of site-wide environmental system upgrades, and a new marine railway with 4 new spur lines. Today, Point Hope is operating at capacity employing up to 200 workers with up to six vessels in the yard, plus additional vessels moored alongside for commission and dock trials. As demand for serving of larger ships increases, Point Hope is poised once again for expansion with plans afoot for a $50-million investment in a graving dock.

Locally-owned, Point Hope Maritime is an important example of responsible industry that operates sustainably prioritizing the health of Victoria harbour, the wellbeing and safety of its employees and neighbours, and its role as a vital economic engine for the Capital Region providing family-sustaining union jobs along with annual work and services for more than 650 businesses – majority of them local.

Point Hope Maritime is an active work site when we tour the site. Hard hats, vests and safety glasses will be provided. Please wear appropriate footwear - no heels or open toe shoes.
