Empowering vulnerable youth to unlock their full potential & navigate their own path to success.
About us
We empower vulnerable youth to unlock their full potential and discover their own path to success, through a full-time mental health & emotional well-being program embedded in public schools. The words of Take a Hike youth best describe the impact of the program: "Without the support from my friends and Take a Hike, I would not be the confident girl I am today. I would still be sitting at home in a dark room, playing video games, and hating the world. My future looks brighter than I ever imagined a year ago." “I have a bright future ahead of me and I realize that now.”

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end - we would like to share one of the many ways we support youth in BC! What do we do at Take a Hike? 🤔 For many youth, Take a Hike is their first therapeutic encounter. Take a Hike clinical counsellors provide early intervention and prevention mental health supports that help youth build social and emotional skills, find healthy ways to cope with life’s stressors, and improve mental health and well-being. This can include coping with anxiety, depression, ADHD, past trauma, or other mental health concerns. Take a Hike youth are venturing out on their Spring trips this season! 🌻🏕️ 🥾 Share your spring adventures with us and inspire us for our next destination! Getting outside on multi-day trips are valuable experiences for vulnerable youth. It’s a chance for them to disconnect from technology and connect with themselves, their peers and the caring adults in their Take a Hike program. Whether it’s a hiking, kayaking, or snowshoeing adventure, your donation to Take a Hike gives youth the opportunity to learn about the land, experience new activities, and develop the social, emotional and physical life skills they need to live a happy and healthy life. Thank you David Byng, ICD.D for championing TAH as a board member! We had a great meeting with a potential donor and were thrilled to share about TAH.
Such a privilege to volunteer on the board of the Take a Hike Foundation, focusing on supporting youth mental health in Canada’s K-12 education system. Pictured here with program staff, potential donors and members of the management team.
