Today, on #MooseHideCampaignDay, we wear our moose hide pins to spread education and awareness of those impacted by domestic violence. We all have a role in ending violence against women and children. #SyscoCanada’s colleague resource group, Circle, has been a strong advocate for Moose Hide Campaign Day for several years – raising awareness of this important date and distributing moose hide pins to colleagues across the country. As Circle's Chair, Dana Johnson CRSP CHSC CSO LIAT, shares, "Through tools and resources, and building a strong sense of community, Sysco Canada and the Circle colleague resource group continues to advocate for safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for all – Indigenous and Non-Indigenous." Together, we can stand up and raise our voices in solidarity against gender-based violence.

Like physical health, mental health is an essential part of our overall wellness. Recognizing a path to positive mental health and wellness can be complex and is unique to each of us. This is why #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth is critical. This month gives us another opportunity to break stigmas, offer resources, and further advocate for mental wellbeing. #SyscoCanada is dedicated to offering colleagues resources to find balance between life’s ups and downs. 💚 Through Sysco Canada’s benefits, colleagues and their dependents have access to Maple (getmaple.ca), a platform that lets you see a doctor from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. 💚 Plus, colleagues and their dependents have full access to HumanaCare, Sysco Canada’s colleague assistance program, which takes an integrated mental and physical approach to wellness. 💚 Our colleague resource group, Food for Thought, provides a safe space for colleagues to come together and promote positive mental health and well-being. This month, Food for Thought will welcome multimedia storyteller, Bee Quammie, for a virtual event, “Reimagining Resilience”, a virtual yoga session in collaboration with colleague resource group, Asian Professional Exchange (APEX), and various members spotlights. Mental health impacts us all. Together, we can break stigmas while being supportive and understanding of each other.

Happy National #VolunteerWeek, a time to recognize the importance of volunteers and the impact they make every day. Each year, we are blown away by the dedication of #SyscoCanada colleagues that volunteer and truly live the Sysco #purpose of connecting the world to share food and care for one another. Through our Sysco Gives Back #volunteer recognition program, we celebrate Sysco volunteers who help bring our purpose to life. This includes a Quarterly Volunteer Spotlight, and the Volunteer and Sysco Company of the Year recognitions. In November 2023, our signature volunteer initiative, #PurposeMonth, saw over 1,000 #SyscoCanada colleagues volunteer more than 9,000 hours with 220+ charities across the country. We’re forever grateful for the meaningful contributions these volunteers have made in their local communities, which contribute to our 2025 goal to generate $500 million USD worth of Global Good.
