Rural intersections in the U.S. can be dangerous places. High speeds, poor visibility, and a lack of signals make for a lethal mix. While improving lighting is an obvious antidote, it's often not feasible—or cost-effective—given the distance to the nearest electrical grid. Enter solar. Unlike traditional streetlights, solar lights requires no trenching or wiring to the grid, no long and complicated install, and—here’s the big one—no utility bills to pay. Ever. When you buy something, you expect it to work as advertised. If it's a car, you expect it to run; if it's a sweater, you expect it to keep you warm; and if it's a solar light, you expect it to turn on and stay on all night long at the level you require. Sadly, it doesn't always work that way. Solar lights underperform all the time, for a slew of different but interconnected reasons. In our latest blog post, we share some of the most common problems customers encounter with solar lighting, and how we overcome them with proper sizing, efficient fixtures, independent testing, and an abiding commitment to our products and customers 💕 https://lnkd.in/gTMGRK97

As the days get longer and the nights get warmer, it's easy to linger outside—even if it means pushing back bedtime 🙃 Unfortunately, many parks in North America close at dusk, and even the ones that do remain open are rarely lit enough to feel safe and inviting. Solar lighting can help! Unlike conventional lights, which require disruptive trenching and wiring to install, solar lights can be added just about anywhere, with no impact to swing sets, seesaws, or other favorite amenities. Plus, it's free to power, easy to maintain, and cuts down on light pollution—what's not to love? New month, new hire 🎉 We’re pleased to introduce Alanna Mahr, the latest addition to our team. With over a decade of experience in marketing and communications, Alanna will be helping us craft content, increase engagement, and amplify the vast technical knowledge of our team 🧠 When not scrutinizing fixture specs or asking our product technologists to ‘explain it again, please’ Alanna can be found running, reading, weeding, and chasing after her kids (at least until they run out of steam and ask to be carried, always at the bottom of a hill). Welcome, Alanna! We’re excited to have you as our newest #SOLmate ☀️

It gets hot in Moreno Valley—really hot. (Last August, the mercury topped 136°F 🥵) When it heats up, residents do the sensible thing: they get out early in the morning or late in the day. The only problem is there isn't always enough light to do so safely—something officials noted was an issue at the local dog park. That's where we came in. In collaboration with our South Coast Lighting & Design partners, we carefully evaluated the project location and requirements, ultimately delivering 8 of our powerful, all-in-one iSSL Maxi 4 lights. The result: reliable, sustainable illumination that provides year-round safety to people and their pets. Read the full case study 👉 https://lnkd.in/e8cWt-Hg
