PGL is thrilled to announce a new addition to our team! Justin Tan has joined PGL’s Vancouver office, as our new IT Support Specialist. Justin graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2023 with a diploma in Computer Information Technology. At PGL, Justin will be supporting our IT team, where he will be providing technical support, configuring and monitoring computer hardware, software, and systems, as well as aiding in troubleshooting technological issues across the company. Spring is here, and with it comes the unwelcome return of knotweeds (Fallopia sp.), an invasive plant with serious implications for projects. Their rapid growth can cause significant ecological and structural damage, including to building foundations and sidewalks. Knotweed is regulated in BC under the BC Weed Control Act. As a land occupier (person who is in physical possession of land, or is responsible for, and has control over the condition/activities of a property) you are responsible for controlling noxious weeds growing or located on land and premises they occupy. Additionally, many municipalities and regional districts have bylaws or best management practices that also require appropriate control and disposal of noxious and invasive weeds. Stay ahead of the game by incorporating knotweed management into your development plans. If you think you may have knotweed on your property, flag off the area, take photos of the plant, and send to a PGL QEP for identification.
