About us

About Rotary Rotary is the world's oldest volunteer organization with over 1.4 M members globally. Rotary members unite at home and across the globe to put our experience and knowledge to work tackling our most pressing challenges. About Harbourside Rotary As Harboursiders, we are ‘people of action’. We get things done and we have a whole lot of fun doing it! In addition to our money donations, we give of our time as well. Some of our favourite ‘hands-on’ works were serving breakfast at three schools and supporting Vic High’s ‘Stone Soup’ program. Speakers at our meetings make us think about the issues we face and help us learn about our community. This year, our focus is on the opportunities and challenges from the big societal changes that have already begun. Come check us out. We meet every Wednesday 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at the Union Club. Get that meeting in before heading to work! The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. The Four-Way Test The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Diversity and Rotary Rotary International recognizes the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary encourages clubs to assess those in their communities who are eligible for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future.

  • 40 years of Rotary and still enthused! That's the magic of Rotary! What our members are saying.   "I was lucky enough to join Harbourside Rotary in February 1984, and looking back over the last forty years it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. At the time I owned a very busy Restaurant, with all the challenges that running your own business brings. I found my fellow Rotarians very engaged and helpful whenever I asked for advice ( which was often!)) and very supportive when I decided to test the waters of local government, eventually becoming Mayor of Oak Bay.  My experiences with Harbourside Rotary were many but three that especially stand out are the friendliness of my fellow Rotarians, the interesting, informative and fun meetings and the chance to help young people on their scholastic journeys in life.   Rotary is an international as well as a local organization and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the excitement and interest that I have enjoyed in meeting fellow Rotarian travelers from all over the world. Rotary is a wonderful, organization and in Victoria, we are lucky enough to have a wonderful Club..........Victoria Harbourside. "   Christopher Causton

  • Why is Rotary involved in international Projects like Namaste Direct in Guatemala? When we economically empower women, they gain control over their lives, invest in their families, and break generational cycles of poverty. It demonstrates Rotary International and Canada's commitment to gender equality, human rights, and international development. The collective impact on international trade and social forums is immense. Read more in our story section on some of our international projects. #wearebettertogether

  • Hello! It's that time of year again! Roses Time🌹 We thank you and our charities thank you. Such beauty to help those in need🌹 How’d you like to brighten someone’s day with roses, delivered – for just $45. And help raise some funds? Many of you know I am a proud member of Harbourside Rotary, and for more than 30 years we have been raising funds for local charities and international projects by way of The Roses from Rotary Campaign.  Our goal for this year will be approximately $15,000 for local and international charities.  For just $45, you can order a dozen roses (or more) and have them delivered by a volunteer Rotarian, to someone in the Greater Victoria area (Sooke – Sidney) on Saturday April 13th 2024.  Please see the website for more details on delivery dates. Included will be a personal message from you.  The recipient(s) of your roses will think you are terrific for supporting our charities, and because you sent them roses for no special reason.  Consider sending roses to a spouse or partner, other family members, employees, business associates, or clients and your DOCTOR!. The potential is limitless, and if you order 10 or more dozen, the price is just $43 per dozen.  Feel free to forward this to friends and business associates, with the reminder that, when the site asks for the Rotarian’s name, to please use mine. Order online at www.harboursidestore.ca. Orders are processed securely – all you require is a valid Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or PayPal account. Placing multiple orders is simple – they can be done as one transaction. Here’s where we fund:  https://lnkd.in/gn5aVp5g Thank you for your support for this important fundraising campaign

#greatervictoria #crd I am writing today as a proud Rotarian for the Rotary Club of Victoria Harbourside. Selling roses is one of our top three fundraisers and the money raised goes towards supporting local programs like feeding kids at school (daily) and providing food parcels for seniors (monthly). Some of our current business customers use the Rotary for Roses as a way to send an annual appreciation gift to their clients. It is a double win! You nurture a relationship with your clients AND help support vunerable people in your own community. Sharing this post will make ME super happy (and you all know how much I love happiness). Thanks crew.
