GetFresh Ventures is in search of a venture and investor focused fractional CFO. Preferably with a full stack capacity for bookkeeping and financial planning that we can leverage across our portfolio companies. I like to think that building a company is not unlike trying to engineer a go-kart to win F1 races. You need to know how your engine works, where it needs more engineering and growth, what's broken and have instrumentation of all inputs and outputs with a clear line of sight from operations to revenue and back. After just turning 46, pictured here with my beautiful young and growing family, having to deal with the minutia of detail in operating economics, no matter how much I used to enjoy it is no longer fun, when there's an option to spend time teaching my kids about everything this world has to offer. Having a 6 year old and 4 year old is plenty of work, with two full time highly motivated working parents. Most of the folks we find can either do financial operations or financial planning. Not both, and not very well. Rarely tieing what we are doing on the ground to what we need to plan ahead for. When cash is lean, the details matter. Details with clarity and velocity is a superpower. Things we need in a CFO group; - understands operating economics and KPIs as much as financial design to build a robust financial tracking system from the CoA to derivative metrics - can help breakdown and build scale up whatifs in strategic headcount and operating systems investments to support revenue growth - knows how to establish scalable operating systems for growth based on the required human and business engines, including budgeting, departmental and holistic planning models - understands various business models and can breakdown economics between sales, revenue and cash flow - understands board reporting, building QBR and board reports, and setting targets/KPIs to help CxOs understand their outcomes to achieve by month, quarter and year. Having a finger on how the business is operating and what are the problem areas using both financial and operating metrics is how I have been able to build companies with limited budgets and high growth - during downturns. Really hoping there's a CFO out there that has built companies with similar lean approaches that can lean in and participate in the enterprise value we are creating at GFV. DM me if interested.
