    We’re proud to announce #BUILD - a new trades scholarship program from Beedie Luminaries, as we continue to support inspiring and resilient students in British Columbia. In its first five years alone, the BUILD program plans to distribute over $5.5 million to more than 285 students who are facing financial barriers in their pursuit of a rewarding career in the skilled trades. The inaugural year will support 25 students looking to enrol in British Columbia Institute of Technology's construction trades programs, including two scholarships funded by the RBC Women in Trades and Investment in Skills initiative. Each selected student will receive up to $20,000 over four years on their journey towards Red Seal Certification and be connected to a business through ICBA for their apprenticeship. To mark the occasion, Ryan Beedie shared the following. "Skilled trades offer very rewarding careers. However, there is a significant shortage of skilled workers across BC and Canada. We believe creating the BUILD scholarship program is an important step in addressing that critical skills gap. The program also aligns with our corporate social responsibility promise of Built for Good.” The program plans to more than double the number of recipients in the future and expand to all 15 public post-secondary institutions offering trades programs in British Columbia.
