Farewell to Sarafina Lewis Henderson (our former: #Research & #Education Coordinator) and Wren Shaman (our former: #Community Relations Assistant) who left in April for new adventures.   Wren (below left) assembled our e-newsletters, social media and other advertising. She is excited to be taking time off from working to go travelling and live on a sailboat! Sarafina (below right) helped with the early implementation of our Adopt A Patch program. The Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary Society is a non−profit environmental conservation and education organization in Saanich. The Nature Sanctuary Society’s Board of Directors follows leading governance practices and supports our Executive Director and staff members to meet our shared mission. We are seeking people who are collaborative, visionary and strategic to join our dedicated team of volunteer Board of Directors. At this time, we require people with professional skills and/or volunteer experience as a Board Treasurer or in finance, or in the areas of non-profit board governance, human resources, or Board community advocacy. Every year, the Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary Society, located near Victoria on Vancouver Island, engages more than 400 community members across 10-plus riparian stewardship activities. This supports their work towards restoring the streams and lake to improve habitats for coho and chum salmon. The nature sanctuary acts as an immersive outdoor classroom, allowing youth from ages three and up to develop long-term connections with nature through hands-on learning. “This project will allow us to have more participants engaged with our water quality monitoring work aligned with provincial standards,” says Cara Gibson, Executive Director at the Nature Sanctuary.
