Building understanding and empowering each other's growth is one of the most powerful ways of fostering inclusion. As the co-chair of the South Asians @ The Tire (SAATT) employee resource group at Canadian Tire Corporation, alongside my colleague Nurin T., I'm part of a group focused on creating opportunities for South Asian employees to show up for one another.   Together, we explore subtle nuances that may hinder South Asian employees' sense of belonging or career progression. Initiatives like our Chai with Leaders fireside chat series provide a platform for learning directly from South Asian leaders and others, helping our members grow and thrive.    Being a part of SAATT has been an incredible experience for me. What makes all of this even more exciting is that our efforts are not only making a positive impact on our members but also driving business outcomes.    Join me in celebrating Asian Heritage Month this May by learning more about what my colleagues and I are doing to create a culture of belonging at Canadian Tire Corporation.   https://lnkd.in/geGBZ9x8   #AsianHeritageMonth #InclusionIsAMust #DiversityAndBelonging #EmpoweringCommunities

Manager of Accounting at Canadian Tire Corporation

Breaking silos and broadening representation - this is one of the ways we drive belonging and impact.    Alongside co-chair Yvonne Ng, I've had the privilege of leading Canadian Tire Corporation's Asian Canadian Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group (ERG) for the past year. With a small but mighty committee and the support of our executive sponsor Rex Lee, MBA, we passionately celebrate diversity, highlight visible role models, champion emerging leaders, and facilitate meaningful conversations in order to foster inclusion and drive business outcomes.   The relationships built through the ACPI Network have been incredibly life-giving and humbling. The power of the work we do isn’t about any one of us. It’s about what happens when we collaborate together.   This month, we are hosting a series of events for Asian Heritage Month in collaboration with the South Asians @ The Tire (SAATT) ERG, led by Nurin T. and lakshmi prasad chanamolu. Through our partnership with Ascend Canada, we are also creating career development opportunities for Pan-Asian professionals.   Join me in celebrating Asian Heritage Month this May by learning about how we are creating a culture of belonging at CTC, and by sharing ideas from your workplace or community! This past weekend, Canada was at the centre of the women's basketball world as some of the game's brightest stars tipped-off in Edmonton for the second annual WNBA Canada Game - and Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) was in the middle of the action! Marking the start of a new, season-long partnership with the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association), CTC connected with leaders, players and the community over the weekend as they worked together to grow the game both on and off the court. Weekend highlights included: · "Taking the W"— CTC joined forces with the WNBA to host an in-depth panel discussion among league and industry leaders focusing on achieving gender equity in sport and embracing a generational moment in women's basketball. · Community Connects Courtside — CTC welcomed girls basketball teams from across Edmonton for an exclusive courtside visit before the Seattle Storm and Los Angeles Sparks hit the court.  · In-Game Excitement — From opening tip-off to the final buzzer, Canadian Tire and Sport Chek connected with fans throughout Saturday's game with exclusive giveaways, courtside signage and more.    As the first Canadian company to make a 50/50 investment in women's professional sports, CTC proudly supports the advancement of gender equity in sport and remains committed to creating a roadmap for other organizations to join us in growing the women's game.

This month and year-round, we’re proud to work closely with our Mental Health Matters employee resource group (ERG) to continue the conversation around mental well-being. In honour of Mental Health Month and as a part of an ongoing speaker series, Mental Health Matters hosted ‘Join the Conversation – Career & Job Changes’ recently to dive into various topics, including imposter syndrome, grief and loss, and burnout. Here are some key takeaways: 🧠 Recognizing the signs of burnout requires heightened self-awareness. Know your limits, lean on support systems within our corporation, and proactively seek assistance when needed. ⚖️ Establishing boundaries is essential for maintaining equilibrium. Acknowledge the ebb and flow of work-life dynamics, advocate for realistic expectations, and reach out for support during challenging times. 🌱 Empower yourself by adopting a proactive mindset. Embrace gratitude, find joy in the present, and practice self-affirmation to navigate obstacles with resilience. ✨ During transitional phases, seek clarity by reflecting and consulting mentors to define aspirations. Together, by continuing these crucial conversations, we can cultivate an environment of empathy, support and growth. #CTC #TheresAPlaceForYouHere #MentalHealthMatters #StrongerTogether
