What is Kishkayhta? Kishkayhta is Michif (Métis) for knowledge/learning. The Kishkayhta logo was created by Leah Marie Dorion, an interdisciplinary Métis artist raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. As a teacher, painter, filmmaker, and published writer, Leah views her Métis heritage as providing her with a unique bridge of knowledge between all people. We are honoured to collaborate with Leah to highlight the Emergence of Dreams in our logo. “As a young Metis person, my family encouraged me to get an education to open doors for a good life for myself.   This painting reminds me about how education can help us clarify our dreams and visions for ourselves as we experience and grow throughout life.” - Leah Dorion Pinerock Ridge Graphic Art & Design created the graphic-designed version of the logo. Indigenous peoples make up 5% of adults in Canada but less than 2% of people working in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) occupations. Kishkayhta's mission is to provide an Indigenous-led and culturally relevant co-op, internship, and new graduate program for Indigenous people in STEAM. The program integrates Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing with Western science to broaden the world around us. #RaceRocks #Kishkayhta #IndigenousInternProgram

Exciting Announcement!📢 RaceRocks is honoured and thrilled to announce the launch of the Kishkayhta paid co-op, internship, and new graduate program. This program provides Indigenous learners with hands-on work experience in the technology field, equipping them with the necessary skills to excel in the industry. Kishkayhta works to address the increasing representation of Indigenous peoples in the defence and aerospace industries. Additionally, it creates culturally relevant solutions while bridging the digital divide and preserving cultural heritage. Our media release below provides more information. Our CEO, Anita Pawluk, had the privilege of attending the 3rd annual retreat of Raven Indigenous Capital Partners, celebrating the journeys of the Founders from Raven's Fund I and II. This retreat highlighted the incredible work being done at Raven, strengthening a community rooted in traditional Indigenous practices.

Inspired by the REDress Project initiated by Métis artist Jaime Black, this day is a powerful reminder of those who can no longer speak for themselves. At RaceRocks, we are committed to raising awareness and supporting the voices of Indigenous women and girls, and two spirit peoples. To mark this important day, we encourage everyone to wear red as a symbol of remembrance and solidarity. Together, we will be strong and will create change.
